The Visiting Side

Beachside's Monday game is 200 miles south. Its calendar says Oct. 1

A week seven game against Legacy of Port St. Lucie kicks at 6 tonight, three days after Beachside played Fletcher and four days before it plays Westside at home. It is not a district game. The one place a parent would look for the date, the school's own athletic calendar on FHSAA Home Campus, carries the game on Oct. 1 and carries nothing at all on Oct. 26.

High School Football

St. Augustine is 9-0, and Beachside plays a Monday makeup game

Five of the eight county schools won on Friday, and the two that lead a district are St. Augustine at 5-0 in 4A District 4 and Creekside at 5-0 in 6A District 1. St. Augustine has scored 369 and allowed 84. Beachside won by one at Fletcher, has lost every home game and won every road game but one, and is the only county school that has played eight games instead of nine. The ninth is tonight at 6 in Port St. Lucie, a week seven game being made up.

High School Football

Ponte Vedra at Nease is Friday's only all-county game

All eight county schools play on the week ten card and none is on the bye list. Five of the seven games are at a county school and all five kick at 7 p.m. The two that leave the county both kick at 6:30. St. Augustine is 8-0 and has given up 77 points all season. Records are as MaxPreps carries them on Oct. 23.

The Visiting Side

Four touchdown passes again, and this time they lost by three

Houston 34, Jacksonville 31 at Wembley, and Houston gained fourteen more yards. Lawrence threw four touchdowns, which is what he threw in Week 1 when they won by twenty-four. The Jaguars are 4-2. A week earlier in the same city they outgained Philadelphia by 191 and won by two, which is the first time all year the yardage and the scoreboard agreed, and it lasted seven days.

High School Football

Six of eight county teams won Friday and St. Augustine is 8-0

Six of the eight St. Johns County public high school teams won Friday night. St. Augustine and Creekside are both 4-0 in district play and both sit first in their districts. Beachside is 3-4 overall and 0-4 in district, which is sixth in the same district Bartram Trail, Nease and Ponte Vedra play in.

High School Football

All eight county teams play Friday, and two of them play each other

Nease at Bartram Trail is the only all-county game on the week nine card, and both schools are in 5A District 2. Six of the seven games are at a county school. Every one of them kicks at 7 p.m. Records are as MaxPreps carries them on Oct. 15.

The Visiting Side

St. Augustine wins 55-0 at Ridgeview and is 7-0

Two county teams shut an opponent out and both did it by more than six touchdowns. Bartram Trail beat Beachside 33-26 in the only all-county game. Nease won at Fletcher by four. Menendez and Ponte Vedra lost at home. The two games this paper reported as unresolved on Friday are final now, and the scoreboard still dates them a day before the schools do.

The Visiting Side

One scoreboard has Creekside 46-0 before the game kicks off

FloridaHSFootball's week 8 page dates Atlantic Coast at Creekside to Thursday and marks it final, 46 to 0. Creekside's own calendar and MaxPreps both have it kicking off at seven tonight. The same page has Bartram Trail at Beachside stopped in the third quarter under the words STATUS UNKNOWN. And the Oct. 1 Beachside trip to Legacy, the one with no result anywhere, is now marked Postponed.

sports

All eight county schools play a district game Friday

Seven games, one of them county against county at Beachside. St. Augustine carries the only unbeaten record in the county to Ridgeview, which is 1-5. Nease is the only 6:30 kickoff. Tocoi Creek's start time at First Coast, which two documents gave differently last week, is 7 p.m. on the school's own calendar and on MaxPreps.

The Visiting Side

The Jaguars have not outgained anybody since Week 1 and they are 3-1

Cincinnati gained 437 yards to Jacksonville's 323 and lost. That is the third game in a row Jacksonville has been outgained, by 124, then 2, then 114, and the record over that stretch is 2-1. Burrow threw for 428 and was intercepted twice. Lawrence threw for 227 and was not. Little kicked from 55, 28 and 54, which is nine of the twenty-two.

sports

Nease 49, Riverside 14. Bishop Kenny 35, Menendez 6

Two county teams played on Friday and FloridaHSFootball has both finals. Five more were on the week 7 bye list and did not play at all. Beachside played in Port St. Lucie on Thursday and two days later no outlet has published a score. All eight are back on Oct. 9, in seven games, and two documents disagree about one of the kickoffs.

sports

Two county teams play Friday, five are off, all eight back Oct. 9

Two of the eight public high school teams in St. Johns County kick off Friday night, both at 7. Bartram Trail, Creekside, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and Tocoi Creek are on FloridaHSFootball's week 7 bye list. Beachside played Thursday at Legacy and no outlet has posted a result.

The Visiting Side

Jaguars beat New England 35-6 and were outgained again

Jacksonville beat New England 35-6 while gaining two fewer yards than the team it beat by twenty-nine. Three giveaways did that, one of them handing over a field five yards long. Turnovers are the least repeatable thing in football, and Cincinnati is Sunday.

The Visiting Side

Fourteen sports stories, and not one on the county college

St. Johns River State College has six home dates in the next week and 245 on its schedule. Two thirds of them are women playing. The Vikings are the only local program that runs into the spring, and the first column under this byline is about the byline.

sports

Bartram Trail beats Ponte Vedra 34-16 Friday at Bear Stadium

All three Friday games were district and all three county teams that traveled or hosted won except Ponte Vedra, which lost the only all-county game of the night. Bartram Trail is 5-1. Next week Bartram Trail, Creekside, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and Tocoi Creek are all on FloridaHSFootball's bye list, which leaves three county schools playing.

sports

Tocoi Creek wins its first by two, and St. Augustine is 6-0

Twelve county volleyball dates sit on only one school's calendar

Three varsity girls volleyball matches in the county tonight, two girls golf matches before them, and a week that runs to next Thursday. Twenty-two of this season's volleyball dates are two county schools playing each other. Ten are on both calendars. Twelve are on one.

The county's college

Every Flagler sport but basketball is free at the gate

The college's own ticket page says regular season admission is free to the general public for every sport except basketball. Ten home dates are left in September, at a gym on Granada Street and a field off Old Moultrie Road.

sports

Four county finals, and one game two outlets cannot agree on

Four county teams have a final from Friday night and all four came from somewhere other than a school. The fifth, Bartram Trail at Fletcher, is a 30-7 loss on MaxPreps and a weather delay with no score on FloridaHSFootball. Bartram Trail's own calendar still has no game at all.

What it costs to go

Jumbo Shrimp tickets start at $5, with two home games left

Two home games left for the Jumbo Shrimp, tonight and Saturday, and the club publishes its whole price ladder, top to bottom. The Jaguars open at home Sunday and publish no single-game price at all. Every number below came off the published pages.

sports

Six calendars, 76 events, and not one score

Three home games Friday, all at 7 p.m., all district. Two of the county's eight public high schools have entered nothing for 2026-27. The system has a field for score. It is empty on all 27 games played.
