You can walk into a Flagler College soccer game for nothing.

The college says so itself. Its ticket page reads: “Tickets can only be purchased at the gate and apply to Basketball home contests only. All remaining regular season sports feature free admission to the general public.”

Soccer and volleyball are free.

So is every other sport the college plays at home, right through baseball and softball in the spring.

Basketball is the exception, and even there a county resident gets in free.

A chair-back seat is $15 and general admission is $10, both bought at the gate on game day. A season ticket is $150.

Then the free list. Children under 10. Flagler faculty, staff and students with an institutional ID. And, in the college’s own words, “All St. Johns County residents with proof of a valid regional residency ID.”

Live here, bring the ID, watch basketball free.

The volleyball team is the reason to go first

Flagler’s own schedule page prints the record: 9-2 overall, 4-0 at home, and a streak it lists as W8.

Eight in a row.

Three of them came last week in Clinton, Mississippi. Thursday at Mississippi College, 3-2. Friday against Montevallo, 3-0. Saturday against Alabama-Huntsville, 3-2, and that one went 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 27-29, 15-13.

Five sets. A 27-29 fourth. Then 15-13.

They come home Tuesday. Savannah State, 6 p.m., Flagler Gymnasium.

The men’s soccer team has not lost

The page says 2-0-3. Two wins, no losses, three draws, and 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference.

Two of those draws are worth the line. A 2-2 at Rollins, listed on the page as No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches’ poll. A 2-2 at home against Barry.

Saturday at Saints Field, Flagler 3, Clayton State 1.

Three hours earlier on the same grass: Flagler 3, Middle Georgia 0, the women’s first win of the year and their conference opener.

Their page prints 1-3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference.

The two rooms

Flagler Gymnasium is at 12 Granada Street, across from the Lightner Museum, and it has been the basketball and volleyball building since 1976. The college puts the seating at 1,750.

Saints Field is the other direction, 1655 Old Moultrie Road, and the college’s page says the entrance is next to the Humane Society.

Lights went in during 2002. A grandstand went up in the summer of 2013 with 119 chair-back seats, which took the capacity to 700.

Seven hundred seats. A free ticket.

Before you go

No outside food, no outside drinks, no pets at either place. The college says concessions are open.

No alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes or vaporizers anywhere inside the fence at any Flagler facility.

Tickets are gate-only. There is no advance sale for anything.

The athletics department publishes 904-819-6252 for ticket questions. Times move, and the schedule pages say so in their own header: game dates and times are subject to change.
