The Visiting Side
A week seven game against Legacy of Port St. Lucie kicks at 6 tonight, three days after Beachside played Fletcher and four days before it plays Westside at home. It is not a district game. The one place a parent would look for the date, the school's own athletic calendar on FHSAA Home Campus, carries the game on Oct. 1 and carries nothing at all on Oct. 26.

Plate readers put a white Audi near St. Johns Parkway minutes after a bank robbery on Oct. 16, and the car was found at 3:23 p.m. A person was in custody that afternoon. Take the whole claim as given, because the argument built on it still does not survive one step past itself: every objection the readers raise is answered better by a tracker on every car, which nobody has proposed, including the sheriff. The board is asked on Tuesday, and the suggested motion on the backup form is blank.

St. Augustine appointed an interim city manager on Oct. 12 and the only account of it is a communications release. It prints the start date twice and the end date not at all, where the memorandum on the dais asked for Dec. 17 to June 17. The minutes go to the Oct. 26 meeting, whose agenda is not posted.

Rooftops. Section 163.3162(4)(d) says a denied agricultural enclave application gets a written decision with detailed findings of fact and conclusions of law, and the applicant then has 30 days from the day the county renders it. Three denials covering roughly 5,628 acres have no written order. The Sept. 15 agenda added two more applications, 379 acres and 310 acres. Nothing in the record says a single one of these files has been rendered.

Jacksonville beat New England 35-6 while gaining two fewer yards than the team it beat by twenty-nine. Three giveaways did that, one of them handing over a field five yards long. Turnovers are the least repeatable thing in football, and Cincinnati is Sunday.

St. Johns River State College has six home dates in the next week and 245 on its schedule. Two thirds of them are women playing. The Vikings are the only local program that runs into the spring, and the first column under this byline is about the byline.

Three miles of CR 210, about $42.5 million, out of impact fees and the Transportation Trust Fund. The advisory promises a ceremony celebrating completion and then says construction is nearing completion. It does not say what the road now carries, or what has been approved alongside it.

The board adopted next year's millage rates and budget at a 5:01 hearing on Sept. 15. Eight days on, the county's budget page still describes that hearing in the future tense, its Final Budget Workbook link and its Tentative Budget Workbook link go to the same address, and the Clerk's index carries a recording for seventeen meetings and not for either of that day's two.

The office has given two reasons for keeping the readers. The first is effectiveness and it comes with six published counts a reader can go at. The second is the community's trust, and nothing has been published that says where that comes from. Six questions about the program, two of them about that, ran past a Monday deadline with no answer.

On July 21 the county commission voted 3 to 2 to ask the governor to suspend two of its own members. Tuesday morning all five will be in their seats. In the twenty-nine days after that vote the same five people certified 1,166 acres, and certified land does not uncertify.
