St. Augustine 42, Fleming Island 7, and the Yellow Jackets are the only unbeaten team in the county at 9-0.
Nine played, nine won.
369 points scored. 84 allowed. Home 5-0, away 4-0.
They are 5-0 in 4A District 4 and MaxPreps has them first in it.
Creekside is 5-0 in a district too. The Knights won 27-6 over First Coast and sit first in 6A District 1 at 7-2.
Two county schools lead a district. The other six do not.
Friday, all seven
Five of the eight county teams won. That is this paper’s count off the seven games below, and it is five of eight rather than five of seven because Ponte Vedra and Nease played each other.
Records are after Friday, as MaxPreps prints them. Visitor first. Venue names as FloridaHSFootball.com prints them.
Fleming Island (4-4) 7, St. Augustine (9-0) 42, at H.L. “Foots” Brumley Stadium. District.
Ponte Vedra (3-6) 35, Nease (6-3) 49, at Nease’s Panther Stadium in Ponte Vedra. District.
Westside (1-8) 8, Menendez (5-4) 42, at Veterans Stadium. District.
First Coast (1-8) 6, Creekside (7-2) 27, at Creekside High School Stadium. District.
Beachside (4-4) 28, Fletcher (4-5) 27, at Jack Taylor Stadium. The only one of the seven that was not a district game.
Sandalwood (6-3) 23, Tocoi Creek (3-6) 17, at the Bullpen. District.
Bartram Trail (6-3) 7, Mandarin (8-1) 49, at The Corral. District.
The seven margins, smallest first, are 1, 6, 14, 21, 34, 35 and 42. That is subtraction this paper did on the scores above.
One point at Jack Taylor Stadium was the closest game on the card.
Beachside has won four and every one of them was away
0-3 at home. 4-1 on the road.
Every Beachside win this season has come somewhere else. The three losses are all at Barracuda Stadium.
The Barracudas are 4-4 and fifth in 5A District 2 at 1-4, which is the gap between a record and a seed.
And then there is the number of games they have played, which is eight. Add up the other seven county records and every one of them comes to nine.
That missing ninth game is tonight.
A week seven game, on a Monday, 200 miles south
Beachside is at Legacy in Port St. Lucie at 6 p.m., and FloridaHSFootball.com tags the card Week 7 Reschedule.
MaxPreps has the same game, at 6, and describes it as an away non-conference game at Legacy, which is 3-5.
The venue is South County Regional Stadium, 14505 SW Crosstown Parkway.
Barracuda Stadium to that stadium is about 200 miles in a straight line, which is this paper’s arithmetic on the two sets of coordinates the scoreboard publishes on its own venue links, and by road it is farther than that.
The school’s own athletic calendar has not moved the game. It still carries Legacy at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1 and carries no football at all on Oct. 26.
The only Beachside event on its Monday is a girls’ soccer game at Bishop Kenny at 5:30.
Friday, week eleven
Six county games, and two of them are all-county.
Creekside (7-2) at Ponte Vedra (3-6). Tocoi Creek (3-6) at Menendez (5-4).
St. Augustine (9-0) at Mandarin (8-1), which is the team that just put 49 on Bartram Trail.
Nease (6-3) at Sandalwood (6-3).
Land O Lakes at Bartram Trail (6-3).
Westside (1-8) at Beachside, four days after Port St. Lucie.
No county school is on the week eleven bye list.
Every score here was reported by FloridaHSFootball.com and every record by MaxPreps, and the two agree on all eight. Nobody from this paper was at any of the seven games.
