St. Augustine 37, Clay 13.
The Yellow Jackets are 6-0. FloridaHSFootball puts them 15th in the state and second in Class 4A, and that was a district game at H.L. ‘Foots’ Brumley Stadium.
It was played Thursday. So was half this county’s football week. Nobody tells you that at the gate.
Nease 49, Beachside 14, at Panther Stadium. District. Nease is 2-3 now and Beachside is 3-2.
Tocoi Creek 21, Flagler Palm Coast 19, at The Bullpen. District.
That is the one.
Tocoi Creek had lost five in a row. Flagler Palm Coast had lost one all year. The Toros are 1-5 and the visitors are 4-1, and two points is the whole of it.
Four county schools played Thursday and four play tonight. Ponte Vedra and Bartram Trail are the same game, which is how eight schools fit into six games, and FloridaHSFootball’s week 6 bye list does not carry a single St. Johns County name.
All three Thursday games were district. So are all three tonight.
Tonight
Creekside at Sandalwood, 6:30, Dennis Bartley Field, 2750 John Prom Blvd. in Jacksonville. District. Creekside is 3-2, Sandalwood 4-1.
Menendez at Wolfson, 6:30, Wolfpack Stadium. District. Menendez is 2-2, Wolfson 3-2.
Ponte Vedra at Bartram Trail, 7 p.m., Bear Stadium. District. Ponte Vedra is 2-3, Bartram Trail 4-1.
Two of the three kick at 6:30. Both are on the road.
Mostly clear, 67, north wind gusting to 24.
Then it empties out
Five of the eight are on FloridaHSFootball’s bye list for week 7: Bartram Trail, Creekside, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and Tocoi Creek.
That leaves three of them playing. Beachside goes to Legacy in Port St. Lucie on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. Nease has Riverside on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7. Menendez is at Bishop Kenny the same night at 7.
None of those three is a district game.
So next Friday is two county kickoffs, and then Oct. 9 brings six district games with a county school in them, plus a seventh that Nease’s own calendar puts on the 8th and on the 9th and does not say which.
Bartram Trail at Beachside is one of the six.
Every score above is what FloridaHSFootball.com and MaxPreps each reported, and the two agree on all three. Neither this paper nor anybody writing for it was at any of these games.
