Forty-nine restaurants here are tagged for happy hour. The tag is the county visitor bureau’s. Twenty print a window. Five run on a Sunday.
Here is where you go.
Shaughnessy’s Sports Grill. US 1 South, suite 11.
All day, is the answer.
Their FAQ puts it in one sentence. “Happy hour is 2-7 Monday thru Saturday and all day Sunday.”
None of the other nineteen writes that down, and the other four all stop by seven.
Twelve dollars is the rule and I cannot tell you what twelve buys in there. The same FAQ asks “How can I see the menu prices?” The answer it gives is this: “Our menu is available on our website and our facebook page.”
So the price answer is a link to the page you are already standing on.
The other four, and what each page actually says
The Reef. Coastal Highway, oceanfront. Monday to Saturday, 3 to 7.
Sunday is shorter. Their site says so on its own line.
4:30 to 7:00PM. Doors 10:30, close at 9.
Four hours on a Saturday.
Two and a half on a Sunday.
That is ninety minutes less on the day most people are off, and at least it is published, which is more than most of this county manages.
Cafe Eleven. A1A Beach Boulevard. Every day of the week.
1/2 PRICE HAPPY HOUR 3pm-7pm, capitals theirs. Door is 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Four hours, seven days.
So the half price stops a full hour before the lights do.
Read the small print under it, because their page says the times change if events are scheduled, and that page is also a ticketed music venue.
Argyle. Alta Mar Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach. Sunday hours 10 to 9.
Everyday Happy Hour: 3 PM - 6 PM. Brunch on the weekend. It is inside Sawgrass.
Three hours there.
Their page says “Located within Sawgrass, but open to the public,” which is a sentence a restaurant only writes if people keep asking it.
Kingfish Grill is the fifth. Its page would not open for me tonight.
Fifty characters came back. “403 - Forbidden” and then “Access to this page is forbidden.”
It did open on Oct. 17, and what it said then was Wednesday through Monday, 4 to 6. Sunday counts.
Two hours.
What none of them will tell you
Four pages loaded. Not one carries a dollar figure.
Half price is a discount, not a price. A window is a clock, not a cost.
Want to know what a beer runs at five on a Sunday here? Then drive over and find it out at the bar.
The one page that gets asked the question outright points you at Facebook, and The Reef’s footer still reads 2020-2022.
Read this part before you pick the oceanfront one
Four National Weather Service alerts are out on this county right now and two of them bear on where you drive tonight.
The first is a wind advisory until 8 p.m., northeast 15 to 25, gusts up to 40. The office’s own words are that gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, and that winds this strong can make driving difficult.
The second is a coastal flood warning, 5 p.m. today to 8 p.m. Monday, on the ocean side of the county.
Its text says significant coastal flooding expected, and under impacts it says numerous roads may be closed.
There is also a high surf advisory through 8 p.m. Monday for breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet, and a rip current statement that runs through Monday evening.
The Reef sits on Coastal Highway, which is the side of the county that warning is about.
Go if you want, and the window there is 4:30 to 7.
Do not drive through water of unknown depth. That is their line, not mine.
The order
Shaughnessy’s. US 1 South, suite 11. Inland. Open to close.
Nothing to drive through.
The only number I can promise you is the one in the sentence they wrote.
Two shows at six if you want walls and a stage, and both of them are on St. George Street.
AJ Cebollero plays Prohibition Kitchen, and Jerry’s Middle Finger plays Colonial Oak at number 21, ticketed, with no price printed anywhere in the listing.
Showers and thunderstorms after dark. Gusts to 39.
Go early.
