Ten songwriters are on one bill tonight, in one room, uptown. Seven o’clock, and it runs to ten.

Spinster Abbott’s Taproom, 61 San Marco Avenue. No cover is published anywhere. Take cash.

The taproom closes at ten Sunday through Thursday. The competition is listed seven to ten. So tonight ends when the room does, and if you get there at nine you have caught the last hour of it.

Here are the ten, in listing order: Denny Blue, Don Cooper, Jeremy Price, Kirk Whalen, Marissa Christine, Matthew Aiden, Miryam Harbour, Reagan Bush, Sage Trunnell and Sam Pacetti.

All ten of them are listed seven to nine. The eleventh entry at that address is the thing itself, the STA Songwriters Competition, seven to ten. So the hour you arrive decides who you hear.

The room

Thirteen taps, a bodega and an espresso bar, all in the same building. It opened at eight this morning selling eggs and coffee. It will be pouring beer at nine tonight.

The bar’s own page sends you to a food truck outside rather than to a kitchen inside, and on a Thursday in October that is a weather question rather than a detail.

The building was an Indian River fruit stand, which the bar says about itself on its own front page, and the fruit stand is the part of that sentence worth keeping.

Nothing on that site lists tonight’s show. The dates live on the visitor bureau’s calendar and nowhere the bar controls.

Sam Pacetti is playing twice

Five to eight at Casa de Vino 57, and then seven o’clock at Spinster Abbott’s.

Read those two windows again. They overlap by an hour. Same calendar, same office, same night.

One of the two listings is wrong, or the first set ends early, and either way a stranger driving in off a calendar cannot tell which one it is.

The rest of tonight

Thirty-one listings by a count off that calendar, in eighteen rooms.

Eleven of them are at that one address.

The afternoon is the part people miss. Jim Lamb has been at Mill Top Tavern since noon and plays to four. Damon Slaughter is at Bin 39 from one, Shawn Ryan at La Cocina from one, Miriam Morelli at Pierre’s Pub from one to five. Smokin’ Joe Schauer took the Backyard at Meehan’s at three. Jon Q. takes Mill Top at four thirty and plays to eight thirty, which is four hours, and seven other people on this board are also down for four hours.

Six o’clock is when it gets crowded: Shyla Macaluso at 17 King, Jolie at Michael’s, Colin Kosco at Pesca Vilano, Fond Kiser at Harry’s, Cassidy Lee back at Pierre’s, Bret Blackshear at Salt Life Food Shack.

Daniel Hughes is at Prohibition Kitchen at six as well. That one is off the room’s own feed. It is not on the bureau’s list, which is worth knowing if you use one calendar and assume it is all of them.

The late show is VersVtile at Tradewinds Lounge, 124 Charlotte Street, nine to one. It is the only thing listed tonight that starts after seven.

Friday

One Good Ring at Colonial Oak Music Park, seven to ten, and the venue’s own page puts FREE show, Fun for all ages and Friendly pups welcome in a list under the description. No cover.

A Grateful Dead tribute out of St. Augustine, the venue says, veterans mixed with younger players. Close to a hundred shows in.
