Fifteen people are playing somewhere in this county today. The first one is on at noon.

The visitor bureau’s calendar carries twelve of them. Three more are only on the venues’ own pages, which is the whole problem with planning a Tuesday off one list.

Start with the room. The Tradewinds Lounge runs three separate slots on a Tuesday. It publishes them as a standing weekly grid rather than as dates, so the page does not say Oct. 27 anywhere on it. Bret Blackshear has the early show, one o’clock to half past four. That is the set nobody else lists. Only the grid has it. Mark Hart has the happy hour, five to eight, and he has it on four other days of the week as well. Ancient City Rock has the nine o’clock, and the bureau is the only document anywhere that says when they stop, which is one in the morning.

Three sets in one bar in one day, and the bureau lists two.

Plan off the venue, not the list.

The Mill Top has the same gap the other way round. Its own feed puts Nathan Allen in from noon to four and John Tyler in from half past four to half past eight. The bureau has Nathan Allen and does not have John Tyler. Go by the one calendar and you walk past four hours of music. The same feed carries the rest of the week at that room, two sets a day on Wednesday and Thursday and three on Friday and Saturday, the last of them booked from nine until one minute before midnight.

Prohibition Kitchen is the third. The bureau does not carry it today. The Rotations are on six to nine, off the venue’s own calendar. Read the file raw and it says ten o’clock, because it declares Eastern time at the top and then writes every start in UTC. It is six.

The rest of the twelve, by when they start

Five o’clock: Mike Cook at Hurricane Grill & Wings on Anastasia, and Mark Hart at the Tradewinds, both until eight.

Six: Alexis Peramas at 17 King, Colin Kosco at Hornski’s Brewing, and Jolie at Michael’s, all three until nine. Smokin’ Joe Schauer at Ann O’Malley’s and Joshua “Tennessee” Worthy at Salt Life Food Shack, both until ten.

Half past six: Damon Slaughter at O.C. White’s, until half past nine.

Eight: Dewars and Uncle Marty, both at Alfred’s, both listed eight to eleven, which is two names in one room in one slot and is exactly how the calendar prints it.

Nine: Ancient City Rock at the Tradewinds, until one.

Not one price

Four calendars, fifteen sets, and not one cover charge, ticket price or age limit on any of them. That is normal for this list. Every room on it is a bar with a corner rather than a venue with a door, and a bar does not take money at the front on a Tuesday.

It is worth saying out loud anyway. The only document that printed a price all night was Colonial Oak’s, and Colonial Oak is dark today. Its next listing with a number on it is PAPERCUTT on Nov. 7: twenty dollars, doors at half past seven, band at half past eight, tickets over the counter at the Panama Hat Company on St. George Street.

Be careful with the Tradewinds grid. It is a weekly pattern the venue publishes rather than a dated listing, so it tells you what a Tuesday normally is at that bar and not that those three are in the building tonight. Four of its seven late slots name no band at all, and what they say instead is to check the Facebook page.

Colonial Oak is back Thursday at seven with Dalton and Campbell, billed as country night. Tangled Orchid has the Halloween night after that.
