Start at the Oak. Country night under the trees on St. George Street, and the venue’s own page says free show, all ages, dogs welcome.
The page gives you two end times. The details block says 7 to 10:30. The copy four lines above it says 7 to 10. Go at 7 either way.
Free means the music.
The bars are bars and the kitchen on site is the Seafood Company, open 6 to 10 Thursday through Saturday.
Two addresses on one page again, 27 St. George at the top and 21 St George at the bottom. It is the same block of the same street. Walk until you hear it.
Out at the beach, Cafe Eleven has Walter Parks and The Unlawful Assembly. Doors at 7, show at 8, 501 A1A Beach Blvd. It is a seated show. Tables go to reserved tickets.
Here is the part that costs you money if you miss it. Half price happy hour runs 3 to 7 every day and ends when the doors open. Get there before 7 or pay full price for the same drink.
Under 21 is a five dollar fee at the door on top of the ticket. Under 18 needs a parent. That is the door policy. The page sells tickets and does not print a price, so look before you drive out there.
Downtown shuts earlier than you think tonight.
The Milltop has Jim Lamb from noon and Jon Q from 4:30, and Jon Q is done at 8:30. There is no third set tonight. Nothing on the board. Friday and Saturday both get a 9 o’clock, and tonight does not.
Tradewinds is the one room with a band at 9. Just Wade from 1, Acoustic Anomaly from 5, and the 9 o’clock slot reads rotating band on the grid with a note to check the venue’s Facebook. No cover printed anywhere on that page, which is the usual. Not on any night of the grid.
Prohibition Kitchen has Esh x Schief at 6. Meehan’s has Smokin Joe at 1 in the afternoon and nothing after it, which it does not do Friday or Saturday.
Do not plan the night around the Amphitheatre. It is dark, the next thing there is Alabama on Saturday, and the free shuttle from the satellite lots only runs around a gate time. There is no gate tonight.
If you are up Saturday morning anyway, the county is shredding paper for free at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, 8:30 to 12:30, 101 Library Blvd. Residents only. No charge. Bring the bills, leave the three ring binders and the cardboard, and they will take your old phone and laptop batteries too.
The one everybody ends up at anyway is the Oak, because it is free, it is on St. George Street, and it is the only thing tonight that does not ask you for anything at the door.
