Start with the free one, because it runs three nights and tonight is the first of them.
The Sing Out Loud local showcases open at 6 at Colonial Oak Music Park, 21 St George Street. The festival’s own listing calls the Local Artist Showcases free. They go Friday through Sunday, and nine rooms are carrying lineups. Here is who is in each of them.
Then the game.
Three county teams are at home tonight and all three kick at 7. Creekside hosts Bartram Trail at 100 Knights Lane in St. Johns, and that is the only one with both sidelines from this county. St. Augustine hosts Evans at Foots Brumley. Tocoi Creek hosts Bradford at The Bullpen.
Three more are on the road. Beachside is at Englewood at 6:30, the earliest start of the night. Menendez is at Matanzas and Ponte Vedra is at Fleming Island, both at 7.
Nease is off. No football on the school’s own calendar tonight, at any level. If that was your Friday, it is not this Friday.
There is a fourth home game in this county and our own football page will not show it to you. Hilliard at St. Joseph Academy, in St. Augustine. Hilliard comes in 3-0. The scoreboard that carries the game prints no kickoff, so ring the school before you drive. St. Joseph is not one of the eight public schools our schedule is built from. That is our gap, not theirs.
Free, and it starts before kickoff
Flagler has USC Aiken volleyball at 6. Flagler Gymnasium, 12 Granada Street. Walking in costs nothing.
That is not a guess about a small college being easy at the door. The athletics ticket page says tickets “apply to Basketball home contests only,” and that “All remaining regular season sports feature free admission to the general public.” Basketball is the exception. It runs $10 general admission, $15 for a chair-back seat, $150 for the season.
Six downtown, seven at a stadium. Move quickly and you get both. One of them is free.
The big one
John Fogerty and Steve Winwood are at the Amphitheatre at 7. The Amp lists it as The Legacy Tour. Brad Paisley is there Saturday at 7:30, so A1A South is a two-night problem and not a one-night one.
If you want a room instead
Meehan’s has The Rambling Rovers in the pub at 7, 20 Avenida Menendez, with a Teeling whiskey night built around them. Bret Blackshear is on the bayfront side from 1 and Josh Worthy from 5.
Milltop runs three sets and the last one is the long one. Josh Tennessee Worthy from noon. Jon Q from 4:30. Jon Q Duo from 9 to midnight.
Prohibition Kitchen runs two. Angel Chantel and Underbrush from 6 to 9, then Whalin at 10 until midnight. Casa de Vino 57 has Sam Wright at 7. Tradewinds posts its weekend hours as 8:30 to 1:30.
Three that are not music. Friday Night Live, the improv show, is at 8 at 200 Malaga Street. The Limelight has Catch Me If You Can at 7:30, 11 Old Mission Avenue. Grand Horizons is at 7:30 at 184 San Marco Avenue.
What the sky is doing
Mostly sunny, high near 84, falling back to about 81 in the afternoon. The rain, if it comes, comes early. A slight chance of showers between 7 and 11 in the morning and storms between 11 and 1, and the weather service puts the whole day at 20 percent. Northeast wind 8 to 15, gusting to 20. Tonight goes partly cloudy and only down to 76.
A wet morning at worst. Nothing that moves an evening.
The one everybody ends up at anyway
The beach, after. Low tide at St. Augustine Beach is 8:55 p.m., which is as much sand as you get all night. The high before it is 2:17 in the afternoon.
