The state licensed this restaurant five weeks ago and the restaurant’s own website says it has not opened yet.

Both of those are published. The state licensed 69 Lewis Boulevard on Sept. 3 under number 6501525, which is the paperwork a room has to have in hand before it is allowed to put a plate in front of anybody. That licence is five weeks old today.

Then go to 2creeksdockside.com. The first thing on it says: We are pleased to introduce 2 Creeks Dockside. Opening Soon!

Google has made up its mind faster than either of them. It lists the place as an American restaurant, gives it a 4.3, and says it opens at 11.

Nobody has claimed that listing. It still carries the prompts asking somebody to claim the business, add a website and add a photo, which means a room that has built itself a whole site with a gallery and an events page and a working order button has not yet spent the ten minutes it takes to tell Google any of that exists. The reviews are arriving anyway. They always do.

The menu is real and it is live

This is the part that settles it, because a menu with prices on it is a decision somebody made about money.

The ordering page for Lewis Boulevard is up. Ribeye, $34.95. Pecan crusted grouper, $24.95. Bruschetta salmon, $23.95. Blackened redfish and Maryland crab cakes both $19.95, the fish platter $18.95, the shrimp platter $17.95. Gulf oysters are $9 for a half dozen and $17 for a dozen, which is the math that tells you they expect you to order the dozen. Sides are $4.50 across the board, onion rings $6.50, sweet fries $5. Soft drinks $3.25, and the kid’s menu runs $6.95 to $7.95.

That is a waterfront seafood house priced like a waterfront seafood house, aimed at somebody’s parents visiting from out of state on a Saturday with a view to pay for, and not at the Thursday shift that works down the road and gets an hour. Nothing wrong with that. It is just worth knowing before you drive out.

There is a Datil Seafood Chowder on it. Shrimp, fish, potato, datil pepper in a white sauce, $7.95, and a datil named in a description is a promise somebody has to keep.

It is out of stock.

Eleven of them are

Count the OUT OF STOCK tags on that menu and you get eleven. Gator tail. Conch fritters. Seared scallops. The chowder. The jerk chicken sandwich, the crab cake sandwich, the Buccaneer burger. Then four out of the thirteen things under Main Sails: catfish platter, fish and chips, Pirate’s Platter, half chicken, all four with no price next to them at all.

Steamer buckets lists shrimp, oysters, mussels, clams and crab legs and prices exactly one of them. Blackboard Specials is a heading with nothing underneath it.

Across the top of the whole page: Currently not accepting online orders.

That is not a kitchen in trouble. That is a kitchen halfway through being typed into a point of sale system by somebody who has a hundred other things to do before the doors open, which is what the back half of opening a restaurant actually looks like from the inside. Almost nobody out here gets to watch it happen. This week the menu left the curtain open.

Who owns the walls

It is the second room for the same company. The hours block on the site is headed 2 CREEKS GRILL EXPANSION, and it lists both addresses together: 2 Creeks Bar and Grill at 74 Capulet Drive Suite 201 in the 32092, and this one at 69 Lewis Boulevard in the 32084. The ordering system’s own address for the new menu carries the word expansion right there in the link, which is the kind of thing nobody bothers to tidy up and the kind of thing that tells you who filled the form in. Same hands. Second room.

The state treats them as two separate businesses, which they are. Different licence numbers, 6502238 for Capulet Drive and 6501525 for Lewis Boulevard, and different licence IDs. The Capulet Drive room is a suite in a building off a road, the kind of address that has to earn every single person who walks through it, because nobody has ever driven past Suite 201 and thought about lunch. This one sells the water. Different job entirely.

The site is selling it hard, too: a Tiki bar, a patio, an indoor dining room, private events, and children chasing fiddler crabs along the waterfront while you have a cold drink. That last one is their sentence, not mine, and it is a better line than most restaurants manage.

When it opens, which is the one thing nobody has published

The site says Closed, Opens Thursday at 8AM. It says exactly that for Capulet Drive too, the same words on the same page, which is one hours setting doing duty for two rooms. A seafood house on the water opening at eight in the morning would be a breakfast decision, and a breakfast decision at a brand new waterfront room is the sort of thing a business mentions somewhere on its own front page. This one does not.

Google says 11.

The phone number for Lewis Boulevard is (904) 615-1514 and it is on both the website and the listing, so that is the number to call before you drive out there.
