Two School Board meetings on the district’s public notices page have swapped places since Saturday.

The workshop set for Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. was marked canceled on Sept. 20. Tonight it is not. The notice reads the ordinary way again: there will be a School Board Workshop on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 9:00 AM, in the auditorium at 40 Orange Street and on Webex.

The workshop on legal services, which had been set to follow the Oct. 13 board meeting, has gone the other way. On Sept. 20 it was noticed as happening. Tonight the same notice is headed CANCELED and says the workshop has been called off.

If you were planning to go to either one, that is the whole of it. Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. is on. The legal services workshop on the 13th is off. The regular School Board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m. is unaffected and still on, in the same auditorium and on Webex, and it is the one where the board actually votes.

The date on the notice is not the date of the change

Here is the part that matters if you ever try to check this yourself.

The cancellation notice for the legal services workshop carries the date September 9, 2026. That is not when it was cancelled. Sept. 9 is when the workshop was announced. On Sept. 20 the same notice carried the same Sept. 9 date under the heading “School Board Workshop - Legal Services,” and said the workshop would go ahead.

The heading changes. The sentence changes. The date does not. So a parent reading that page today, trying to work out how much warning they got, would put the cancellation more than two weeks back. It was still on four days ago.

The Oct. 6 workshop shows the same thing running backwards. Its notice is dated July 2, which is when the meeting was first put on the calendar. It carried a cancellation on Sept. 20 and does not carry one now, and nothing anywhere on the page says when either of those things happened.

What is still on the page

There is a Focus Group Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 9 a.m., at the Fullerwood Learning Center, 10 Hildreth Drive, which is a different building from the one the board meets in. Everything else is at 40 Orange Street and on Webex: the workshop on Oct. 6 at 9 a.m., the board meeting on Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m., workshops on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 at 9 a.m., a board meeting on Nov. 10 at 4:30 p.m., and on Nov. 17 the reorganization meeting at 9 a.m. with the School Board Leasing Corp. meeting immediately after it.

That is the whole calendar the district has posted, and there is one cancellation on it tonight, which is the legal services workshop.

The district publishes no reason for a cancellation and is not required to. What it also does not publish is the day the cancellation happened, and that is the date a person planning to attend a public meeting would actually use.
