Monday night in this county is eight sets in seven rooms.
Tuesday is nine sets in six. Wednesday is eleven in ten. Thursday is fifteen in fourteen.
Then Friday is forty-one and Saturday is forty-seven, and everybody writes about those two. Count the listings for the four nights before them and you get forty-three, which is about one Friday, spread over four days and mostly finished by nine o’clock.
Here is where it is.
Meehan’s is running a whole week
Meehan’s has put up an Irish whiskey week on its own events page and it starts Monday.
Monday is a Tullamore Dew event, Spade McQuade in the pub at 6. Tuesday is a Guinness Ripple event, The Rambling Rovers in the pub at 6. Wednesday is an Irish beer dinner with Guinness glass engraving, The Rambling Rovers again, pub, 6.
Thursday the pub calls Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, tied to a half-millionth pint. The Rambling Rovers move to the backyard stage at 5 and Spade McQuade takes the pub at 7.
The Rovers are on that page six nights running, Tuesday through Sunday. That is a residency, and it is at 20 Avenida Menendez, one block south of the fort.
The rooms the listings miss
The county’s tourism calendar is where most people look and it does not have all of this.
Prohibition Kitchen’s own calendar puts The Rotations on at 6 Tuesday and Daniel Hughes at 6 Thursday. Neither is on the tourism listing. Sam Pacetti opens the week there Monday at 6, and that one is on both.
La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs runs Latin Night Wednesday with Pinedas Duo, 8 to 10, which the venue’s own schedule carries and the listing calendar does not. La Cocina is the one room in town that prints the genre next to the name.
Colonial Oak has Country Night Thursday with Kelly Daniels, 7 to 10, and only the venue is saying so.
Mill Top Tavern posts two acts a day all week, noon and 4:30. Jim Lamb has the noon slot Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Scott Halls has it Tuesday, with John Tyler at 4:30, and that 4:30 is another one only the venue lists.
Tradewinds keeps a grid
Tradewinds Lounge publishes a weeknight grid rather than a lineup: early show at 1, happy hour at 5, band at 9.
Monday it is Reggie Starrett, then Mark Hart, then Mike Johnson and Brad Burns. Tuesday, Bret Blackshear, Mark Hart, Ancient City Rock. Wednesday, Smokin’ Joe, Mark Hart, Jack Hammer. Thursday, Just Wade at 1 and Acoustic Anomaly at 5, with the 9 o’clock band rotating.
Mark Hart has the five-to-eight slot six days a week on that grid, which may be the steadiest gig in St. Augustine.
The grid is the standing pattern and the venue says on the page to check its Facebook for who is actually on. Thursday’s listing has Auggy Style at 9, running to 1 a.m., which is the latest set anywhere in the county before Friday.
The rest of it, by night
Monday. Bin 39 Wine Bar, Scott Halls, 2 to 5. Hurricane Grill and Wings on Anastasia, Kevin Edwards, 5 to 8. Harry’s on the bayfront, Stu Weaver, 6 to 10. O.C. White’s, Bob Patterson, 6:30 to 9:30. Mill Top, Jim Lamb at noon and Joshua “Tennessee” Worthy at 4:30.
Tuesday. The Night Market at the Amphitheatre, 5 to 9, free to get in, with Skin and Bonz listed 5 to 8. It runs four times a year and this is the September one. Park at R.B. Hunt Elementary and walk, or take a bike, because the lot at the Amp is small and the venue says so itself. Otherwise: Ann O’Malley’s, Smokin’ Joe Schauer, 6 to 10. Crabby’s Beachside, Evan D, 6 to 10. O.C. White’s, Damon Slaughter, 6:30 to 9:30. Four acts listed together at The Waterworks from 2.
Wednesday. Ann O’Malley’s, Dewey Via, 6 to 10. Fionn MacCool’s, Spade McQuade, 6 to 9. A1A Asian Kitchen, ZaZa Flamenca, 5:30 to 8:30. Casa de Vino 57 from 5. Hurricane Grill, Carpetbaggers, 5 to 8. Harry’s, Al Canali, 6 to 10. O.C. White’s, Gary Douglas Campbell, 6:30 to 9:30. Slang at the Ocean Pier, 7 to 9, and note that the pier itself is closed for pile repairs until the end of November, with the county saying permitted events at the park beside it are unaffected.
Thursday. Casa de Vino 57, Sam Pacetti, 5 to 8. Smokin’ Joe Schauer in Meehan’s backyard from 3. Sage Trunnell at La Cocina, 1 to 4. Bin 39, Shawn Ryan, 4 to 7. Conch House, Baby Gray, 5 to 9. Beaches at Vilano, Allen Arena, 5 to 9. Pelican Pub, Dewey Via, 6 to 9. Hurricane Grill, Vinny Jacobs, 5:30 to 8:30. St. Augustine Shores Golf Club, Craig Hand, 5 to 8. Marina Munch, Honey Knots, 2 to 4. ZaZa Flamenca again, this time at the Hilton Bayfront, 5:30 to 8:30.
Three names to watch
Spade McQuade plays three rooms in four nights: Meehan’s Monday, Fionn MacCool’s Wednesday, Meehan’s again Thursday.
Smokin’ Joe Schauer plays three: Ann O’Malley’s Tuesday, Tradewinds Wednesday afternoon, Meehan’s backyard Thursday.
Sam Pacetti plays two rooms three days apart, Prohibition Kitchen Monday and Casa de Vino Thursday.
The one thing nobody prints
Not one of these rooms publishes a cover for a weeknight. Not Meehan’s, not Prohibition Kitchen, not Colonial Oak, not Casa de Vino, not Mill Top, not Tradewinds. Colonial Oak and Casa de Vino both have a place on their listings where a price would go and both leave it blank.
The Night Market is the only thing on this list that says in writing what it costs to walk in, and what it says is nothing.
