No cover at three rooms today, and that is the festival’s doing rather than the rooms’.
Sing Out Loud’s third weekend finishes Sunday and its pages are headed FREE EVENT at every venue. Ten rooms are tiled under Weekend Three. Only three of them booked a Sunday.
Jimmy Hula’s, 709 South Ponce de Leon Boulevard, goes first and goes early. St. Augustine Sandman plays 3 to 4. Purple Kloud follows at 4:30 and it is done by 5:30.
Colonial Oak Music Park, 21 St. George Street, picks up at 5 with Lane Drix. Sparks in the Garden at 6:30. Andria Shinn and The Loyal Souls at 8.
Spinster Abbott’s, 61 San Marco Avenue, runs latest. The Mermers at 6, The Kreepy Tikis at 7:30, Loose Touch at 9 and off at 10.
Three rooms, eight acts, and the whole thing is over by ten on a school night.
Those are start times for the sets, not door times. The festival publishes one and not the other, and at a free afternoon show the difference is usually nothing. Show up for the set.
Six more rooms, no festival
Milltop Tavern has Nathan Allen at noon and Jon Q at 4:30.
Meehan’s on the bayfront has three: Colin Kosco at 1 outside, Michael Hynes at 5 outside, The Rambling Rovers in the pub at 6, against a Jameson football night.
La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs, 157 King Street, has Vinny Jacobs from 1 to 4 and then Mediterranean Nights from 5 to 8.
Casa de Vino 57 on Treasury Street has a 3:30 set listed under the single name Brian. The feed gives no second name and no cover.
Prohibition Kitchen has Lions of Jah at 6.
Not one of those five prints a cover on the page it prints the show on. Take cash anyway.
Before any of it
The St. Augustine Farmers Market runs 9 to 1 at the Classic Car Museum on US 1 South, free, every Sunday. It is not the Amphitheatre market, which is Saturday. Two markets, two days, two parking lots.
The Master Gardener Fall Plant Sale is at the county Agricultural Center, 9 to 2, second of two days.
And the thing nobody tells you until you are standing at the stop
There is no bus. The Sunshine Bus Company’s own schedules page says its routes “operate Monday through Saturday, except for certain holidays,” and Sunday is not Saturday. Every line is parked. Customer service is closed too, so there is nobody to ask.
That makes today a drive or a walk, and downtown parking on the last day of a festival weekend is the cost of the free show.
Cars and Coffee is back at the Classic Car Museum next Saturday, 8 to 10, free outside.
