Nine o’clock. That is the number tonight turns on. Of the rooms whose own pages I read today, two publish a closing time, and the earlier one is nine.

Twelve dollars is the rule here. Tonight most of what is worth doing costs nothing at all, and the food is the part you have to plan.

Free, 5 to 9

First Friday Art Walk. Galleries open their doors from 5 to 9, the listing says rain or shine, and the cost field says Free.

Four of them are worth the walk and all four are free. The St. Augustine Art Association at 22 Marine Street runs the Tactile Art Show from 5 to 8. Lost Art Gallery at 210 St. George Street, Unit C1, has a painter working in the room from 5 to 9. The Lightner Museum opens at 75 King Street from 5:30 to 7:30. The Cathedral Basilica at 38 Cathedral Place opens its doors at 5:30 and starts the concert at 6, and the listing says a free-will offering of $10.00 is appreciated, which means nobody is taking money at the door.

That is four hours of free and it ends while the kitchens are still open. Barely.

Free, 7 to 10

Colonial Oak Music Park, 21 St George Street. Highway to Hell’s Bells, an AC/DC tribute, with Man of Fire opening.

The venue’s own feed says it plain: FREE show 7-10 PM. All ages. Dogs fine.

There is food on site from St. Augustine Seafood Company and the feed prints no price for any of it, so take that as unknown rather than cheap.

Prohibition Kitchen has two sets, The House Cats at 6 and Paper City Hustlers at 10. The feed carries no cover for either, which is not the same as free.

The cheap window closes at 6

Barley Republic, Monday through Friday, 4 to 6. Their page: “$5 smash burgers and bone-in wings, as well as $5 select draft beers, well cocktails, house wines and house-made sangria.”

Two of you, two smash burgers, two drafts. Twenty dollars before tax, and you are out before the art walk warms up.

The Conch House lounge runs 4 to 7 and takes $2 off beer, mixed drinks and house wines. That is a discount and not a price. The page does not say what the drink costs to begin with, so there is no way to budget off it.

A1A Asian Kitchen runs happy hour 2 to 6 and is open Friday until 9:30, out at 6975 A1A South. Their own site also says “We are now temporarily closed on Tuesdays until further notice,” two scrolls above an hours table that still lists Tuesday 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Friday is not in dispute. Tuesday is.

If you miss six

DJ’s Clam Shack, 21 Hypolita Street, Tuesday through Sunday, 11 to 9. Most of that menu is a long way over twelve. Seven things are not.

French fries $5. Cole slaw $3. Garlic bread $4. Sweet potato fries $7. Onion rings $8. Split grilled beef hot dog $10. Key West Salad $10.

The page says prices are subject to change without notice, so treat those as what was printed today.

The order

Two smash burgers and two drafts at Barley Republic before 6, twenty dollars before tax, then the galleries until 9 and the Oak until 10 for nothing.

If 6 has gone: two hot dogs and a cole slaw at DJ’s, twenty-three dollars before tax, and the window shuts at 9.

If you want the big room instead, Whiskey Myers is at the Amphitheatre and the events list gives 6:30 as the start, not the doors. That one is not free and the page prints no price.
