Start with the bus, because the bus is what will strand you.

Parking free at the Amp means parking at Anastasia State Park or the soccer field at R.B. Hunt and riding the shuttle in. That is a real free, run by Old Town Trolley, both lots inside a mile. It starts an hour before gates and it stops an hour after the event ends.

The Amp does not publish an end time.

Flipturn goes on at 7:30 tonight. The after-party door up the road is at 11. Between those two numbers there is a shuttle whose last run is pinned to something nobody printed, so if you are doing both, do not plan on being driven back to your car.

Drive to the rink. Or walk it. Or park once, on Anastasia, and stay between the two.

Paid parking on site is Beaver Toyota Premium Parking, it is very limited, it sells out, and you buy it ahead at the box office or on axs.com. That lot opens two hours before gates.

One time to get right tonight. The Old City calendar has Flipturn at 8 and the Amp’s own events list says 7:30. Go by the venue.

The rink, and all three nights are free

The Amp After Parties are at Ponce De Le Rollin, 201 Anastasia Boulevard, tonight through Sunday. Free. All ages. No skating, and the festival says so in capital letters.

Friday and Saturday the doors are at 11 p.m. and the show runs 11:30 to 2 a.m. Sunday it moves up: doors 7:30, show 8 to 10.

Who is playing it

Friday. Armadillo Operator and Pocket Knife Dance Party. Both local. They go on after Flipturn.

Saturday. The Smiths (Robert), a Cure cover band from Northeast Florida. That is the festival’s own description of them and nobody typed it wrong. Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio DJs it, and Alkaline Trio is on the Amp bill the same night.

Sunday. Sasha Bloom on the decks, Teresa Rose solo acoustic, and Slippers headlining out of Brooklyn. Done by ten.

The other free one, and it is the show of the weekend

Jejune and Pohgoh at Sarbez, 115 Anastasia Boulevard, Saturday. Doors 7, show 8. Free, all ages, no ticket. Get there for the doors.

Jejune formed at Berklee in 1996 and broke up in 2000. Two records on Big Wheel Recreation, a split with Jimmy Eat World, a run through Japan on the Sakura Nights tour, reissues from the Numero Group, and all three original members are in the band that plays Anastasia Boulevard on Saturday. The festival says twenty-seven years apart and calls this the first Florida show in nearly three decades.

If you were not born yet, that is the reason to go.

Sarbez runs to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and is kid friendly until eight. Over thirty-five arcade games, all of them on quarters and dollar bills, and there is a change machine so you do not have to ask.

Sunday, records

The record fair is at the Amp, 11 to 5, free, put on by Tonevendor. DJ Josh Aaron opens at 11, Toxic Cats go on at noon, Bears and Lions at 1:30, and Josh Aaron comes back from 3 to 5.

Dozens of vendors, screen printing on site, food trucks. Six hours of it. The page says times can change.

If you want one with a cover on it

Flipturn with Winyah, the Amp, 7:30 tonight. Rise Against with Alkaline Trio and Teen Mortgage, the Amp, 7 p.m. Saturday.

Both ticketed. Neither price is printed on the events list, so that is a trip to axs.com before you know what you are spending.

Prohibition Kitchen has two sets a night all weekend and no cover on the door in any of this. The Collective at 6 and Paper City Hustlers at 10 tonight. Good Pluck Trio at 6 and Marhsall Horn at 10 Saturday. Pili Pili at 6 Sunday.

Football, and one of the three is here

Ponte Vedra at Bartram Trail, 7 p.m., Bear Stadium. The schools’ own calendars put that one in St. Johns and it is the only one of the three that is.

Creekside is at Sandalwood, 6:30, Dennis Bartley Field on John Prom Boulevard in Jacksonville. Menendez is at Wolfson, 6:30, Wolfpack Stadium.

Mostly clear tonight, 67, north wind gusting to 24.

Saturday, which is where everybody ends up

Sunny, and a high near 79. Go.

Then read this part before you get in the water. The National Weather Service has a high rip current risk in force for coastal St. Johns through late Saturday night, and a high surf advisory until 2 a.m. Saturday with breakers of six to nine feet. The advisory’s own words are dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion, and its instruction is that inexperienced swimmers stay out.

So it is a beach day and not a swimming day. Skip the water.

Sunny has nothing to do with it.

Free Saturday morning if you are up for it: the Amphitheatre farmers market at 8:30 and the GTM beach cleanup at 9, out at the research reserve. Both listed free.
