Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11. The county’s release is dated Nov. 4. The city’s is dated Nov. 3. Together they give the holiday schedules for county and city services on the day. The rows in the table below follow the two releases in their own order.

The county closure reaches every department of the Board of County Commissioners. It also reaches administrative offices, libraries and bookmobiles across the whole county system. Three constitutional offices close with the county offices, each named in the release. Those are the Supervisor of Elections, the Property Appraiser and the Tax Collector. The Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office closes with them. Standard business hours resume Thursday, Nov. 12, at every county office listed.

Collection is the exception in both schedules, and neither government delays a single route. County garbage, recycling and yard waste schedules are not delayed. The Tillman Ridge and Stratton Road transfer stations keep their standard business hours. City Solid Waste collection services remain on their regular schedules through the holiday. The county points residents to the Recycle Coach app and to recyclestjohns.com for curbside schedules.

The city’s parking rows carry conditions worth reading before Wednesday morning arrives. City-owned lots and on-street parking are free on all national holidays. The release names two exceptions to the free line. One is the Castillo lot. The other is the garage. The Historic Downtown Parking Facility charges its fee. The fee is waived for active-duty and retired military with valid ID.

The city release says many private lots carry strict towing policies. The city release tells drivers to confirm a lot is city-owned before parking. Enforcement continues Wednesday for any vehicle parked illegally anywhere inside the city limits. The listed enforcement examples are delivery zones, sightseeing and taxi reserves, sidewalks and yellow curbs. Nothing else in either release changes a schedule.
